God of the future, we have a habit of looking backward, at what has been,
     And often we miss your vital presence in our lives today..
Trapped in the past, we deny your grace that can empower us,
     And as a consequence we deny you by our neglect of others.
Help us to walk into the future with hope, trusting in the promise of your reign,
     As did the One who always trusted in you,
        Even Christ Jesus our Lord, Amen

Prayer for the Week of 02/12/2012
We are often fearful, O God, and do not trust in your grace;
     For pain and illness bursts into our lives and we know not what to do.
Our friends and family suffer and we know not what to say,
     And we feel helpless because we rely on our own strength alone.
May we feel your presence, O God, so we may be truly present to each other,
     As did the One who is your presence in our lives,
       Even Christ Jesus our Lord, Amen
