Family Promise is again sponsoring its "Cardboard City" night scheduled for September 30-October 1. The pastor will spend the night at Tinton Falls Church of Christ in a cardboard box and hopes that this year she will not be visited by the resident skunk family. Needless to say, Pastor Joyce shifted her place very carefully and quietly so she would not frighten Mama Skunk and her babies. Walt Disney and Bambi notwithstanding, skunks do not smell like flowers.
Help prevent homelessness in Monmouth County by sponsoring Pastor Joyce's night in a box. Contributions can be mailed to Old First Church with “Joyce in a box” on the memo line.

This year is the 10th anniversary of the terrible attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. On Sunday, September 11, Old First will commemorate the attacks in worship with special music and time for reflection. Middletown lost 36 persons at the World Trade Center, more than any other community in New Jersey. As we remember the past, let us prayerfully consider how we as a Nation and a world have been affected, and how we can be instruments of peace and justice.
