The Riotous Readers meet monthly discussing books that stretch your soul as well as your mind. Last month we discussed The Help, Kathryn Stockett’s phenomenal novel that examined the life of maids in the deep South of the early 1960s. This book caused us to reflect on the dynamics of race and class in society, not just in the past but in present-day America.
This month, Daniel Quinn’s Ishmael involves a conversation between a man and a gorilla, about our role as human beings in a world that we take for granted. This book was recently mentioned in the news when a man who took several staff members of the Discovery Channel as hostages encouraged people to read the book on his blog. For more information about how to join us, call the Church office at (732) 671-1905. We meet the second Wednesday evening of the month.
The Fabulous Friday Morning Walkers meet at Holmdel Park each Friday at 9:00 AM. We use this time to challenge our bodies as well as our souls as we walk together on kid-friendly trails. For more information, call the Church office.
